Testimonials

“Creative, insightful and receptive to feedback. These are just some of the qualities Mary possesses as, what I like to call, a personal curator for living lovelier. When faced with the dilemma of how to decorate my rental apartment I turned to Mary for guidance. She took, what was for me, an overwhelming, anxiety -ridden task and translated my inner design aesthetic into a reality. She has the vision for those who need help bringing their thoughts and dreams into a reality. On top of all that she comes ready to listen and receive feedback from her clients. Mary truly sparkles! “

“When we moved from a Colonial house into a Victorian house, we had boxes and boxes of photos, artwork and mementos to unpack. Mary Lovely came to the rescue. She found a spot for all of our old favorites and went a step further, by mining our boxes of family treasures, dusting them off and incorporating them into our everyday life by framing them and putting them on display. Now we can enjoy family artifacts that had been packed away for years. Mary was careful about asking for my preferences and we got to the point where I realized I trusted her judgment and liked letting her experiment and surprise me with combinations and placements I wouldn’t have thought of. She’s got such a good eye she was able to combine our assorted treasures into a cohesive look that suits the Victorian house while remaining fun and full of family nostalgia.”

“My absolutely Lovely experience”

“Working with Mary opened me up to the world of colors, fabrics, and placement. Having her vision and her concrete ideas created the bright, light, welcoming home I envisioned!  Mary moved through my home with an artistic eye and budget-conscious sensibility. After picking out paint for 6 rooms, she moved items from upstairs, downstairs, and room to room, creating a look I could never have imagined.”

(full review)

It began, as so many projects do, with one item. I really wanted to change the look of my 3 season porch and thought a new table would do the job. (We have lived in this house for 20 years.)
Enter Mary Lovely, queen of makeovers.
The challenge? There were many.
First, I had no desire to buy new furniture. Next, I absolutely could not visualize how an item online would work in my home. Then, I decided to “go big or go home”. My project widened from the porch to include the entire first floor, the porch, the upstairs bath and master bedroom.
Throw in the fact that although I wanted change…(yes, you guessed it…) I didn’t want too much change… A delicate balancing point to be sure… and you can see how easily this could turn into mission impossible. And yet, Mary took on the task, knowing that the government would disavow her existence if things didn’t go well.
Mary moved through my home with an artistic eye and budget-conscious sensibility. After picking out paint for 6 rooms, she moved items from upstairs, downstairs, and room to room, creating a look I could never have imagined.
But what would a good story be without a crisis??
The painter left. Job done. And right away I realized that the master bedroom, in its new color, did “not work.” Big time.
In fact, it jarred me every time I looked at it. A few nights I slept in the guest room! The room looked SO bad, in my eyes, that I called the painter and asked him to return and repaint the room another color.
Mary arrived, color chips in hand to select a new color. (Did I mention a few wild voice mails on my part??).
What happened next can only be described as a miracle…to be specific, the “Miracle of the Pillows.”
Mary moved lamps, hung up pictures (from my attic), rearranged the pix on the bureaus,”dressed” the bed with a new quilt, and added pillows…many pillows, turquoise and white shams,, salmon, light orange paisley throw pillows and large white shams. (I really think this woman has never met a pillow she didn’t like.)
In twenty minutes she transformed the “worst” room in the house to a beautiful,
soft, place of respite.
I wanted a fresh, refurbished, uncluttered look that opened up the rooms and welcomed light. And Mary made that happen.
Happy ending?? Working with Mary opened me up to the world of colors, fabrics, and placement. Having her vision and her concrete ideas created the bright, light, welcoming home I envisioned!
