Introduce fresh flowers as part of your holiday decor this year. But how about giving the poinsettias and Christmas Cactus the season off? One stunning floral accent? Amaryllis.
I poked my head into several shops over the weekend to breathe in the beautiful scents and admire the seasonal plants and flowers. One boutique was filled with the most beautiful white amaryllis.
Amaryllis are stunning seasonal flowers. Grown from bulbs, they are classic, bold and stand beautifully all by themselves or arranged with winter greens and berries. Amaryllis are available in many different shades of red, pink, peach, as well as variegated colors.
My personal favorite is white.
Their simplicity speaks volumes when they are cut and placed in glass vases. Here are a few ideas of arranging your amaryllis:
- Cut the stems short and cluster in bunches in varying heights using mason jars or collected empty glass jars from condiments or pasta sauce.
- Leave them in their planting medium and place the container into a decorative pot.
- Place into tall vases with a bit of wispy white pine and winterberry.
